The long-winded rumors are true… according to C-VILLE, Trader Joe’s is
applying for a liquor license with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The ABC has confirmed that the application was received on May 21…The store will be located on the stretch of land between Hydraulic Road and Greenbrier Drive.
The only gripe: why can’t it be closer to downtown?
Birdie sends this in…
Drove by the shops at Woodbrook Shopping Village on Seminole Trail, and noticed that Amigos Mexican Restaurant is no more. In its place is something called the Mexican Italian Restaurant. For some reason, I’m not optimistic about this. Maybe they just figured that both types of food can have a lot of cheese in them, so why the hell not just combine them.
Anyone been in?

DMB’s latest album “Big Whiskey and the GooGrux King” placed first on the Billboard 200 with 424,000 sales. Here’s the single, “Funny How It Is”
On another note, DMB just gave $4 million to 50 Charlottesville-area non-profits. The full list is after the break (via NBC29):
When Blue Mountain Brewery Co-Owner Taylor Smack commented the other day he wasn’t kidding. He said:
By the way, we’ve got a stellar uberPils (Imperial Pilsener) debuting July 3rd that’s undergoing a 2+ month ferment/cold aging. Also, we’re adding another 1,000-gallon tank to our cellar next week and our other partner, Matt Nucci, is joining me full time as a brewer as we expand capacity to meet demand. We’re finally in over 100 restaurants, stores and retail shops across Virginia! (Yea!) And for those of you who haven’t heard, Full Nelson is coming out in cans (12.oz. 6-packs) starting July 17th.
We didn’t exactly take note of what a 1,000 gallon tank meant, but according to Nelson County Life, that means Blue Mountain Brewery is doubling its capacity for delicious brews. Booya.
From the City…

Here’s the latest from the restaurant rumor mill:
Ventana is expanding into the Migrations Gallery Space
$4 20oz beers are no longer at 12th Street (unless you count Star Hill)
Restaurants on the watch-list: Cassis, Downtown Grill
From a birdie:
I can’t make it to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Where else can I go to pick up local farmers products?
Gosh that small text is annoying. You would think anything put in fancy quotation marks would be prominent…
