Today I called into work sick. Am I sick? No. I had several appointments and the sun is shining brightly. My bosses think I am lying in bed, but in reality I am eating lunch on the Mall. I used an illness as an excuse for my being absent today.
I often tell my friends that they should tell their bosses they have green spots and just can’t make it to work. They never listen to me and generally devise a slightly more believable excuse.
What do you guys tell your bosses? Sometimes the “sick” act can be difficult to play off. Other excuses such as death can also get tricky.
I suggest a national green spot day.

It is that time of year again! Cville Weekly “Best of Cville” voting. I can’t believe this has yet to be mentioned. Voting ends July 3, 2008. I was reluctant to let you guys know this was going on because I want to WIN the Spa Treatment. I am also still a little wet behind the ears and left some blanks. I am going to need to guys to help me out with that. Please feel free to share your votes – unless of course they are top secret. If you do share I will know where to go to fill in next year’s blanks!
Best of Cville
P.S. Not to push or anything but there happens to be a spot for best blog. HINT HINT. I mean your call.

Just spoke to the owner of Al Dente. He said they should open up next week. Checked out the scene and it looked great! We will see how the food measures up. Watch for its opening next week and let us know what you think.

This Tuesday was slightly out of the norm. We began at Bang. It was chock full of what appeared to be UVA students. For a Tuesday night the place was packed. This seemed a bit odd to me. We certainly are fans of the Bang atmosphere and it was in full swing last night.
Next in the line up was South Street. South Street was dead. We saw none of our fellow villains
The place was so lame we left after five minutes. What was the deal guys?!
The last stop of the evening was Mas. Mas was not its usual sardine set-up. Despite the lack of a crowd all the tables, a chunk of the outdoor seating and a good portion of the bar were full. Mas seemed to have an usually large number of UVA students as well.
In general the town seemed to be bustling but other than Bang no place really seemed to show signs of it.
What was with the UVA infiltration last night? Aren’t they supposed to be out enjoying their summer fun?

I moved to Cville in August. For the first two months here I was miserable. The people were so different in Cville than anywhere else I lived, I may as well have moved to Jupiter. I had trouble breaking into this completely new culture. It was as if everyone had their own lives and just weren’t interested in adding to them.
I was lucky enough to meet some very unique people and now have some great friends (many that happen to be involved in this site).
The problem is I still feel the cold from the Cville Ice. I still notice that people here are different and I have to carry around a giant ice pick to get through.
My relief? I felt most almost at home reading this site and attending villain events.
Being new I had no idea where to eat, what to do on the weekends, or where to have drinks. This site was so helpful. I was totally hooked. Even though I never posted and rarely commented I read the site everyday at least four times a day.
I have been a loyal reader for five months. Now, new to town or not I am almost ready to quit. The Cville shut out I got around town has spread to my beloved relief at Cvillain.

Break out your Velcro puffy pants and hair gel! New Kids on the Block have just announced they are reuniting. My goodness, what are they thinking? They are old (Mark=still hot), they were not that good to begin with (I definitely threw Step-by-Step out at least 10 years ago), and more importantly the days of gay boy bands has passed (thank goodness). The band announced they will intend to come up with all new material…really? Can you see them competing with Usher or Justin Timerlake (who hello, left a boy band). I could also be way off base, they could become so popular they end up back on Saturday morning cartoons (hahahahaha).
The article below claims the fan response is good…but who the heck are “the fans”? The gist, this is not one of Mark Wahlberg’s better ideas. (If you happen to be Mark and reading this post, please don’t take any offense, I still think you are the hottest man in America).
“The fan response to this has been incredible,” band member Donnie Wahlberg told the Boston Herald.
Wahlberg said he was convinced to get back together with his former bandmates — Joey McIntyre, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood — when they decided to record new music. Wahlberg said he wrote 80 percent of the new material with McIntyre and Jordan Knight.
