After roaming the downtown mall for several hours while waiting for the doors to open to a show at Gravity I stumbled upon something great. Walking through Lee Park the sound of live acoustic music caught my attention through the buzz of ambient pavilion rattle. As I followed the music I see a hillside scattered with people watching live amplified music coming from what was obviously intended to be a garage. “The Garage” is in its first month of operation bringing free, live, music weekly to the hillside of Lee Park Fridays at 9p.m. Making for a relaxed, enjoyable Friday night for those who perhaps prefer an intimate music environment to the jumble of the pavilion. Grab a cupcake, a milkshake or a cigar from the downtown mall and head over to the garage for a good start to a weekend.

Yes? Tis the seasons of beer, face paint, and no parking on Saturdays. That is right college (and pro) football season is in full swing (two games deep). I have listed all the dates and locations of UVA AND VTech games for this season. I know we are a Cville site (hello UVA), but it only seems fair to our VTech alum to include both schedules. The UVA/VTech face off for the year will go down in Blacksburg (UVA held it last season).
I know everyone on this site isn’t a sports lover, but for those that are…grab your cushy bleacher pads, your cooler of beer, and your favorite team’s jersey, it’s game time. (I honestly tried to put the schedules side by side but they refused to fit).

The smart money says the key to quick fame on-camera is to upload a video of yourself doing something incredibly stupid/daring/hillariuos/disgusting to youtube and then sit back and let the digg numbers do the work for you.
But if you’re still aiming for more the traditional Hollywood-style fame and notoriety, you’re in luck. Later this month, Red Cloud Productions is filming scenes for MAX VO2: The Potential Inside in and around Lynchburg, Va., and they’re looking for “Hundreds of Background Actors and Extras”.
Full info at the site linked above, but the two big scenes are for a bike race: »Read More

Happy Labor Day Weekend! Put your white shoes away, grab your beer, ditch the boss, and party it up for three days
straight. I am back for good after this weekend and I just know how much you all missed my commentary…okay maybe not but I am back anyway. I hope to catch a few villains while I am out and about Cville this weekend. Checkout some of the great events lined up for this weekend. As usual let us know what we missed!
First and foremost, are you ready for some football?! This is the first official weekend of college football! UVA plays USC at 3:30 p.m. (home game) and VTech plays East Carolina at noon (away game) on Saturday. Get a seat at the Stadium or stool by the bar, it’s football season.
Check out usual Friday set-up: Fridays After Five, Crush Wine Tasting, Market Street Wine Tasting, and Beer Run’s Wine Tasting. Finally, Tuesday has alerted me that Zo Ca Lo will be debuting an Echo cocktail. I am sure he will be there tonight enjoying his drink in full form. This may just be the way to start off your fabulous three day weekend.
Have fun villains!

The UVA Today blog linked to a USC blog that detailed an advance team member’s trip here to scope out the Doubletree, the field, the locker rooms, etc. For the USC football team’s trip here. What struck me was this comment about the Doubletree:
“The Trojans’ team hotel will look just like home when the team arrives in August.
The hotel staff will be decked out in USC gear and the hotel will be festooned with cardinal-and-gold banners and decorations, all in an effort to make the Trojans feel at home, Kemper said.
“We might not want to leave,” Slutak joked after hearing about the slice of hospitality.
But it’ll just be another random road team for the hotel, since the staff and lobby will be decorated in the colors of Virginia’s next opponent just a week later.
“You know who we have ties to?” Hucek, the general manager, said with a smile. “Whoever is in town that weekend.”"
They’re going to buy USC apparel for the entire staff? How much does that cost? Does that seem wasteful? UVA makes them a ton of money between tourists, parents, alumni, and sports fans and they turn around and funnel that money into the programs of other schools? It just seems so bizarre. [Editor’s Note: Not sure exactly where the money comes from for this, anyone know?]
I have to imagine that people in town might be pretty turned off if they knew about this.

Has anyone noticed the sheer number of yard sales going on today? It’s like half the town decided to get together and sell their junk. What gives? I counted at least 5 yard sales within a 1 mile radius (the most I’ve ever seen).

I leave for a week again and come back to lovey dovey posts? What is going on here?! Must be the introduction of the new
LoveCVILLE site. While I must admit summer lovin couldn’t be more fun I will be leaving it out of this weekend’s preview. Although everything here would be more fun with two. Have a great weekend villains and try to be “safe” in whatever “activities” your weekend may bring.
The usual Friday - if you have tried one or any you should! Fridays After Five, Crush Wine Tasting, Market Street Wine Tasting, and Beer Run’s Wine Tasting.
Two fairs this weekend: The Rockingham County Fair and The Greene County Fair.
That’s all folks. Hopefully B yo will bless up with the DJ line-up for the weekend and as always checkout MUSE and Style for more of the weekend’s happenings.
