Thanks, guys!

I just want to thank C-VILLE and the Hook for their recent mentions. I would high-five you if I could.

  • This week, Restaurantarama in the C-VILLE name-dropped cvillain.com as a source of cupcake “buzz.” Read it here!
  • And when the Hook issued its Annual Year in Review issue, cVillain got the nod. Click here, and scroll.

    100,000 Page Views: BOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAAA

Historians, mark your calendars: cVillain has just crossed the 100,000 page views/month mark!

    [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/hU8k_c2YlG4″ height=”350″ width=”425″ /]

What this means is that in the last 30 days, we’ve had visitors look at our pages over 3,000 times a day. While this is nothing in the great scheme of things, it still is an important milestone for our site because we focus on local stuff. I’ll let potential advertisers know another dirty little secret:

UNLIKE OTHERS, WE FILTER OUT ADMINISTRATOR PAGE VIEWS

So, our traffic is pure, sexy, awesome and not generated by those people behind the scenes who visit the site more than anyone else.

We are 100% committed to building Charlottesville’s leading online destination and thank everyone for contributing! We have an awesome community and we couldn’t have done it without you.

As always, please let us know what we can do to improve things!

Several Ways to View This or Any Other Blog or Website at Work (If It’s Blocked)

    [pic]

In response to our recent “Does your employer reprimand you for writing on (or reading) cVillain?” I thought it would be a good idea to let you know some run arounds for participating, despite the fact that your employer has decided to cut off your lifeblood. There are many ways employers can block you from cVillain or any other webiste. It sucks and here are a few (mostly free) secrets I’ve learned over the years that are relatively easy and for the non-technical minded. I am no technical person, but what happens is the employer buys a network monitoring software/hardware solution and then they can select domains that their employees can’t visit. Want to know how to get around this?

    “cVillain?”

A few friends have told me about “this blog site, cVillain” before, and I love playing dumb. “You blog?” I’ll ask, in the way that they don’t know if I’m saying, “You blog?” or “You blog?” Either way, it’s embarrassing and they have to defend the site. Well DONE! I’ve also heard some rumors of who people think Thor and Lilith are, and honestly, it’s pretty cool that in the end, most people don’t want to know and enjoy the mystery. *Sigh of relief!*

But I’m totally missing out! When you guys talk about the site… umm… what do you talk about?

Reminder to Non-Profits: Get Your Banners In!

We Want to Give Free Advertising to Non-Profits.

We are going to launch our new site design in the next month or two and we’d figured it’s a good idea to give back to the community. So, here is the deal…

Why do you want to advertise on our site?

In a given month, we reach over 22,000 visitors and serve over 90,000 page views. It’s free to reach these people. We will take care of the technology stuff, you just need to get us your artwork.

    Here are the rules:

    • We will have limited space, so we reserve the right to exclude any applicant.
    • Business focused or business service/networking non-profits aren’t allowed.
    • Your non-profit must have IRS Section 501(c)(3) exemption status and proof of this exemption.
    • You must either have an office in Charlottesville area or do a considerable amount of your work in the Charlottesville area.
    • You may not cross-promote with a for-profit entity.
    • We will run your advertisement for an initial 2 week period, starting sometime in the next two to eight weeks, but we may extend this period.

    How do you submit?

    Easy as 1, 2, 3.

    1. Create JPEGs or GIFs to be displayed on the site. We will need a 125×125 JPEG or GIF and at least one of the following sizes: 160×600 Wide SkyScraper, 300×250 Medium Rectangle or 728×90 Leaderboard.

    2. Email your artwork, proof of non-profit status, the link you want your banner to direct people to and any other information that is relevant to your nonprofit.

    3. Check back on the site for our relaunch of our design and your free ads! Watch people come to your site. WOOHOO.

Questions/Concerns should be directed to nonprofit@cvillain.com
