A quick photoset from the John Waters party at The Southern this past Friday (11/06/09).  Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers were caught duking it out, and a few luchadoras were colorfully present.

First there was CLAW – (Charlottesville Lady’s Arm Wrestling), then there was CLAWS  (Classy Ladies Arm Wrestling Society).  Now there is an interstate smackdown in the offing, Women’s wrastlin’ will never be the same, Onestarwatt has all the details.

This is it, folks! The final CLAW of 2008 and maybe… EVER. All stops will be pulled out, if you know what I’m sayin’. This all-champion edition features the winners of the 2008 physical competitions in the most ferocious, bloodthirsty battle for the ultimate crown. Who knows what will happen as these champs claw their way to the fakest victory yet. The contestants are:

• Drink wine for charity:  well sort of…drink 5 wines at 5PM for $5 at Whole Foods this afternoon to benefit the C’VILLE BIKE MENTORS, a group of “expert” riders that educate us lame car driving folk how to bike better and ultimately save the world.
• Checkout cvilleMuse for info on gallery exhibits and a movie about our favorite Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers (AKA CLAW)
• Girls in short shorts:  UVa volleyball plays UNC tonight.  This ain’t your high school gym class style of playing.  If you have never been to a real volley ball game you should
• X-Lounge:  live music and dinner bail out (one small and one big plate for $21, tues-sat 530-8pm)

CLAW will be raising money for SARA (The Sexual Assault Resource Agency) on Tuesday, July 8th, starting at 8PM.  It’s getting so big now that you have to have a poster to rally your supporters.  Be there or be square.

That’s right Claw returns for its third tournament this Tuesday (April 8th) at the Blue Moon Diner from 8-10 pm. CLAW – Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers – is Virginia’s premier sports and entertainment league, dedicated to raising funds in support of woman initiated projects.

If you haven’t witnessed CLAW yet, I think it’s safe to say it’s unlike any experience you may have had in this lifetime. This is not a sports event, but it’s not without sporty-ish action and effort and competition. Heavily inspired by pro-wrestling, C.L.A.W. is mostly theater with fundraising thrown in.

Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers will hold its second contest Tuesday, March 11, from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Blue Moon Diner! (THAT’S TOMORROW!)

Celebrity Judges: Stephen Barling & Brandon Collins of the band BC, and Jim Waive of Jim Waive and the Young Divorcees.

Bring cash for food, drink, fake gambling, merchandise, bribing, tipping, and, if things don’t go well, bail. Proceeds go to Community Bikes.

Crowds went wild for CLAW last month. It was a standing room only event… and that was during an ice storm. Come early and come often.

CLAW announces the nation’s first ever all-Female comedic Arm Wrestling Tournament for the betterment of all.

Coming Soon Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLAW)

Some of Charlottesville’s hottest and coolest ladies are organizing a new sports & entertainment league for the betterment of all.

Part pro-wrestling, part olympics, part charity and all woman, CLAW will stage monthly Arm Wrestling contests at the Blue Moon Diner.

That’s right Villainettes: Here is your chance to flex your muscles and put your trash talking skills to good use. Do you think you have what it takes? Do you know someone who does?

Villains: Who would you most like to see battle it out in the CLAW arm-wrestling cage? Who would win?

These ladies will soon be signed to ESPN 12, so see them while you can.

Proceeds will go towards local non-profits benefiting women (SHE, SARA, Free Clinic, Planned Parenthood, etc.).
