With just under a week left to go before election day in Virginia (November 3), many local publications have put out voter guides/election previews. And if there’s one thing cVillain does well, it’s put out.
But since we don’t do politics around here, I’ll just point you to other sites if you want serious coverage:
So now that all that is covered, we here at cVillain can get down to the important stuff. We must get Scowly on the news. Here’s the scenario: David Toscano is the delegate for the 57th district (covering Charlottesville and some of Albemarle County). He’s basically running unopposed. He’s going to win a walk. Two years ago he won with 98.34% of the vote. Well, we can make Scowly the second place finisher. Vote however you like for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and City Council/Board of Supervisors. Then, simply write-in “Scowly” for delegate. Toscano will still win in a landslide, but we might just get enough votes to cause a slight ripple.
And at least we’ll be having fun. I mean, who are we, Fails Church?
So who’s with me??? Yeeeeaargh! Scowly for Delegate! FREEEEEEEDOM!

UPDATE: EMAIL KYLE@SPICYBEAR.COM TO LET US KNOW ABOUT YOUR LINE SITUATION AND LOCATION!
Hello everyone, I got a call from Chas (The Box owner) and he is putting together a little army of volunteers to hand out food and drink to long lines tomorrow. As you may have heard, voter turnout is supposed to hit record numbers this year. Virginia says it’s prepared, but there are last minute lawsuits that claim otherwise.
Chas has rallied a bunch of local restaurants to donate food and drink. This effort is entirely nonpartisan. Involved food and drink places:
The Box
Cafe Cubano
Wayside
Christians
Harris Teeter
Salad Creations
Bodos
Five Guys
The Nook
I’m going to take at least part of the day off to help. If you are interested in helping out tomorrow (with food, time or anything else), email us at 2008election@spicybear.com with information about how and when you think you could help. We don’t have a lot of details yet, but we will be posting them throughout the day as we find out more. Thanks.

From the City…
The security measures in place for the November election are first rate and the Office of Voter Registration has not experience any security related problems with the system,” said Sheri Iachetta, Charlottesville’s Voter Registrar. “The Hart Voting system, to include the electronic voting machine and this election the new digital scan voting machine, enables us to continue maintaining fair and impartial elections in the City of Charlottesville.”
Ms. Iachetta is inviting any members of the media and other interested parties to attend the “lockdown” and machine certification process on Thursday, October 30th, 2008, at 11 am in the Office of Voter Registration in the City Hall Annex. At this time the Electoral Board along with the Registrar will perform the Logics and Accuracy test before locking down all machines before they go to the precincts for Tuesday’s election.
The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters should go to their regular voting precinct.
So what about the Hart machine security?

Virgil Goode Did Not Respond

Tom Perriello Did Respond
Thanks for submitting questions for Perriello and Goode. Originally, we had told both campaigns that we wouldn’t publish their responses unless the other candidate also submitted responses in order to maintain our neutral political position.
After a phone call with a very unreceptive and unhelpful representative from the Goode office who explained to me that “maybe, we would look at the questions, but we get a lot of requests and Virgil is very busy” I realized that there was no way Virgil would answer the questions. Do you remember the TV debate cancellation? The point is Virgil Goode’s lack of response indicates he doesn’t care about speaking to the 5th district, and certainly, given our demographic, doesn’t care about speaking to the younger members of the 5th district. I changed my mind about requiring responses from both candidates.
In case you didn’t know, Perriello is challenging six-term Republican congressman Virgil Goode. According to wikipedia, Perriello is calling for a restoration of America’s commitment to the “common good.” He has twice broken fundraising records for the district and out-raised Virgil Goode in 2007 and the first quarter of 2008.
The Perriello campaign was very willing to answer these questions and I’m happy to publish them. The questions were reader-submitted for the most part. Thank you for submitting questions if you did. I think we got all of them. We asked the questions via email, gave each candidate 5 days to respond and told them to keep their answers short and to the point.
We’ve asked Tom and Virgil about national security, the economic crisis and most least importantly, tartare and aioli. We made minor edits to the original questions and added a few of our own. Tom’s responses are all his own and are unedited. You can find them after the break.

CVILLAIN LAND (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — Coinciding with the press conference that will take place at 2PM, here are the findings and the currently evolving story from the Official Election Committee.
cVillain’s Official Election Committee determined that the results of the 2008 election had been unfairly tallied. It was not immediately apparent how the cheating took place, but various lobbyist groups, legal entities and candidate supporters tried to weigh in on the issue.
Through a careful reverse route IP technoschematic supercomputer investigation, various special forces operations and foreign spy intelligence, we traced the origins of the voting confusion to a small, Cambodian city by the name of “Kep.” While Kep may deceive external viewers with a “lack of electricity,” the truth of the matter is that a large anti-cvillain rogue nation has built a deep underground liar. While we did not want to escalate the issue into an international affair, we did conduct covert operations to determine the source of our problem.
Our covert operations revealed several findings: »Read More

Did you know that..
Dave Matthews donated $2300 to Barack Obama?
The biggest 2008 election contributor in Cville is Stanley Woodward, a self-employed artist who donated $6300 to Obama’s campaign?
Patricia Kluge gave $4600 to Hillary Clinton?
How do I know this, and why is it legal for me to tell it to you?
