Is it the time when Coran Capshaw will sell off the restaurant business? Our birdie thinks so…
Is the restaurant group up for grabs? I heard something…
His restaurants include: Blue Light Grill, Enoteca, Mas, Mono Loco, Ten and Three Notch’d. T’would make sense considering the expansion into music mogulhood.
In the never ending churn of restaurant and food rumors in Charlottesville, we’ve got a particularly chatty birdie who has sent in enough gossip to fill a 5 days of post. We’ll add a tidbit or two each day this week. Here are your Escafe and Bistro rumor..
Escafe has sold to “Dancing Queen.” He has some nice ideas that we have been trying to implement for years… which will def make escafe a strictly bar scene… bring the food back?
Clyde Clive who was the original Chef of Boheme has moved to Micheals Bistro
1. The Tavern (on Emmett) been closed since at least Saturday, with a sign on the door about re-training. (Although I haven’t looked today.)
2. The Health Department report. Do you ever look at the Virginia Dept of Health Restaurant Inspections site? Huuge time-waster. Anyway, the most recent report for the Tavern was extremely negative [link].
Thanks to Frenchy for tipping us on a new Tapas place that he/she says could fill the old Star Hill Building. Is it funded by a wealthy man from Richmond? Who is the chef? We are still curious about the details on this one, so please share. No word on the service expectations.
Secondly, a birdie let us know that the executive chef Bryan has left Ten and left C-Ville. Ten has recently hired a new executive chef.
Well, in case you have been living under a rabbit hole in the last few weeks, you may have missed out on some juicy restaurant gossip. It seems as though one of Charlottesville’s finest is for sale, someone new is doing late nights and a former player has lost its mojo. Which is which?
I thought it’s a good time to reintroduce cVillain to all of our new readers. I know it’s been a while since we’ve done the introspective, psycho-analysis stuff, but considering the amount of new commentary, new readers and new faces at our parties, it’s probably a good idea to try to get everything in one little nutshell.
We started the site a little over a year ago. Lilith and I decided it would be an exciting experiment to mix together Charlottesville food, booze, parties and gossip into a little blog called cVillain. We had no idea that we would grow into something so large and entertaining. Everyone behind cVillain has always been committed to growing a site that puts the readers in control.
It’s been a pretty exciting ride. We grew from a nothing site, to reaching nearly 45,000 readers/month today. You may or may not realize it, but cVillain is the zeitgeist of Charlottesville culture. I don’t know a better place to have a discussion about Charlottesville culture than on this site; and we mainly have you guys to thank.
Women are so passionate about blogging that large percentages of women said they would give something up to keep the blogs they read and/or write BUT, some things are sacred … only 20% would give up chocolate!
22 to 25 percent of women say they read fewer newspapers, magazines and watch less TV because of blogging.
So, ladies, I ask you… what do blogs mean to you and what do you want to see more of at Spicy Bear? Please let us know! Don’t be afraid!
As we near our one year anniversary, we woke up to a wonderful surprise: cVillain’s own Lys and Wingnuts are having babies. Between spring fever, boring bachelorette parties and vegetarian love, it’s a good week to read over. Don’t forget our must reads on being single, Charlottesville’s secret spots and the DMV!
