We are getting various reports of pink paintballs being shot all over Belmont. We saw cars driving around with pink on the bumpers, license plates, windows, etc.

As typical for a cVillain week, things got rather spicy. Last week was about banning things (trans fat, bumper nuts and bags) before Armageddon hit. Between our new mascot and the discussion about platonic boy/girl friendships, it was one of our most diverse weeks yet.

I mean seriously. The list of school closings was harming my ability to enjoy 106.1 this morning.
First, the government decides to clear all primary roads first. Who would have thought that was a smart decision to make? [WCAV]
The bread, milk, eggs, snow shovels and water disappear from area stores.
Every school system closes. This means more gangs, duh.
Charlottesville drivers decide to navigate like inebriated 80 year olds.
Parents freak out about their kids’ safety (which is ok, but it’s not like they are being held hostage).
Sledding!
What else? I’m excited we are actually getting a big snow. Skiing anyone?

First, it was a texting ban, now it’s a ban on Truck Nuts. Truck nuts are those fake balls that hang from the back of your trailer hitch and attract unsuspecting ladies to your “ride.” Now, a politician is trying to get rid of them for good.

I have these annoying small people, that follow me around calling me Mom. If I don’t feed them they threaten me and I don’t want Child Services on my case, as I have my hands full with the Building Inspectorate right now, so I provide vittles to shut the midget people up. Tonight, The Golden Corral sign glowed winsomely as I drove up 29 with one brat wailing ‘I’m so hungry I’m going into a diabetic coma” and another one just wailing. »Read More

It’s true. All in all, it’s supposed to take over a DECADE to finish this behemoth and I applaud the editors for their hard work.

I don’t know if you folks have heard the news, but apparently Monticello has seen the lowest attendance in 30 years. Wow. That’s pretty bad considering the travel industry went bonkers immediately after 9/11 and has been recovering since. What’s going on there? Have we all seen it as kids and think there is nothing else to see? Are video games to blame?
The reasons mentioned by Monticello staff are goofy:
Officials say higher gas prices and the dull fall foliage help to explain part of the dip in attendance. But they says it’s part of the nationwide trend at similar places.
Monticello’s numbers have mostly declined since 2002, the first year visitation dipped below 500,000 since 1981.
Fall foliage was beautiful, I’m not sure what they were talking about. Do you?

Cville Gobbler asks:
On my way to Lowe’s yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the large amount of “For Lease” signs on 29. The buildings seems to cover the typical spectrum, Car Dealerships, Restaurants, Banks, Furniture Stores, etc. It looks terrible.
Is this a result of the awful economy right now? or an increase in rent? Has it always been this way, and I just never noticed it? What’s going on? Anyone have any speculation?

Paul had initially invited me to Crush back in 2007 at the CAAR tradeshow and I initially promised to show up the day they opened, so it was with some embarrassment that I showed up three weeks late, and only on the additional encouragement of the Cvillain homework assignment. But I have to say that I am delighted that I did. »Read More
