Ok.. So, I’ll start with admitting a complete and deep shame for even posting this.
I’ve been on crutches for over 2 months now and up to this point, they have confined me to a bar-less lifestyle. I’ll probably be requiring them for at least another month or two. Now that my cast is off, I’m getting a bit stir crazy and need to have a little bar time to bring me back to level. Up to this point, my phobia has been trying to maneuver a packed bar on crutches and getting knocked off-balance, or even possibly forgetting about the whole broken foot thing myself and trying to stand up normally. Either one could reset the clock and get me back in a cast, or God forbid… back into surgery. The question that I pose to you is this:
Where are some bar suggestions that consist of as few floors/levels as possible?

Spry’s claims to be the “best BBQ in town.” I’m inclined to agree, but I should qualify that by saying that I still have not eaten at Jinx’s. It occupies what was once the Northern Exposure on West Main Street, between the end of the Corner and Midtown (there, I said it). On my walk home from work on Wednesday, some kids were handing out menus, and upon glancing at the sides (which included collard greens and hushpuppies), I decided that this place was probably for real, and decided to quench my lust for Carolina barbecue–which had been unsatiated since my move from southeastern Virginia–by eating dinner there later that evening.

Rumor has it that a few years ago, a UVA student attempted to build a website with all of the Corner’s menus and drink specials as a website project for a class. I don’t know what has happened to this. In a way, he would have everything going against him. Menus change frequently enough to need monthly updating; until recently, few Charlottesville restaurants had websites, which meant that he probably had to visit each restaurant to pick one up; and I suspect some chefs/owners would rather not let their cuisine and space be prejudged from text and images.

Oxo’s website is absolutely awful and says nothing about their late night singles scene parties. We’ve been hearing some things about OXO going after those money-spending singles. With the Darden kids in town it seems as though it would appropriately attract some pre-$150k salary egos. We’ll be there checking it out, without the egos.
On another note, don’t Darden people stick out like a sore thumb, or is it just me?

Instead of clicking through one really long, difficult to navigate list, here is the summary (with our comments). 2007 brought some interesting winners for C-Ville’s Best of 2007. (Aqui Es Mexico didn’t win?!?!!?!?!?) as well as some expected ones (Happy Hour at McGrady’s). Also, Splendora’s again people, what are you thinking!? Charlottesville wants to hear your thoughts about missing categories, gripes, etc. Enjoy the list and comment!

It’s a bad luck kinda day. I hope you all prove the superstitious wrong. Well, it’s gonna be a nice night tonight! It’s getting down to 60, so bring a sweater! UVA’s 2nd summer session just started. Where is the heat tonight?

We started an interesting discussion in our forums and it sees as though “newtocville” highlighted an interesting fact:
Thanks for the heads up - certainly a good site full of ideas. Thanks to all for helping me find a good place to drink!!!
I still haven’t been able to beat McGrady’s. The other night I went with friends and ordered 15 beers and 5 appetizers. $28 bucks!!! Haha - it doesn’t get any better!
This is insane! I’m gonna check it out. It is the self-proclaimed “Best Happy Hour in Town- Hands Down.”
