For all you ladies (and metrosexuals) out there…

By TwoOFour

I have been wanting to share my grooming experiences with the Cvillains for a while. As a newcomer I have spent the past two years trying out every waxer, manicurist, and masseuse in town to nail (no pun intended) down the cream of the crop. Anyone that uses these services know that there can be only one “best” in every town, and these people are hard to book. The costs associated with trying all these providers in order to locate my fave have been a bit pricy and therefore I shall gladly spare you the expense. Please return the favor if you disagree with my choices and/or have additional folks you’d like to tout.

Future Internet Stars in Charlottesville

Little old Charlottesville may seem somewhat isolated from the larger metropolitan areas, but this doesn’t mean that we lack exciting start up businesses. If you look around you may be surprised at what you find. This is the first in a series of “Future Business Stars.” In the future we will discuss non-Internet categories. Suggestions are always welcome.

Spoofing Local Businesses, Brown Auto

Someone recently sent in a letter from Brown Auto which explains:

It has come to our attention that there is a company under the name of “Dealorship Services” that has been sending letters to people in our area soliciting service contracts with an offer that is good for “72 hours only.” Please be aware that this company has nothing to do with the Brown Auto Group, and that we do not accept or endorse it.

HELLO SKETCHY LETTER! It’s vague and I have no idea what to think as a customer when I read a letter like this.

Does this mean the company is using Brown’s logo to misinform customers or is this just a competitor? Does anyone have any more info? Letter after the break…

Local Food Event

Left of Center is hosting a local food get together at Maya at 5:30 PM tomorrow (Tuesday).

Our local food economy: why it’s important to eat local, why it’s so difficult to be a farmer, and how family farms are all but illegal in Virginia today. Colin Steele and Lynsie Watkins will tell their story of creating “Perfect Flavor,” the Waynesboro ice cream company making frozen treats entirely with local, seasonal ingredients. They believe passionately in the importance of supporting local farmers, and they have faced some huge hurdles in realizing that dream. And Gail Hobbes-Paige, of Caromont Farm, will talk about her experiences as a farmer, chef, caterer, goat farmer and cheesemaker. Her broad knowledge provides rare insight into our local food economy.

Should be exciting. Food…mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up for your week in review.

We got villains dissing on wine bars, gunshots at the Outback and some Grecian food. Don’t forget to stop around back to sample our smelly PR move, celebrity wannabies, and your favorite musical acts. When you leave, grab the gift bag– it’s full of tats, lawsuits, and monkey sex. Enjoy!

The Week in Review: 1/21/2008 to 1/27/2008

Besides the lovely complexity of having too much wine this week, we break the story on Pink Paintballs, (hopefully) find a restaurantuer a chef partner, chat with bartenders and break a rumor of a high end steak place. Oh, we also make some rule.

The week in review continues below:
