Join a bunch of hippies celebrate animal superiority to humans! The festival is free, celebrates healthy lifestyles and has a bunch of food samples and should be pretty fun to attend. We doubt the claim that 6,000 people will show up, but if you go there, make sure you get a chance to visit as many booths as you can!

As always head to  Crush, Market Street, and Beer Run for Friday evening tastings. Don’t ignore MUSE and STYLE for more weekend events!

• Watch Menopause The Musical at The Paramount each day this weekend.
• UVA football has an off week, so look for a quieter Saturday.
• Fall is here!   Go hiking, do a road trip around Botetourt County, or maybe start thinking about picking Apples.. Carter’s mountain opens their fall season this Saturday (oh and don’t forget it’s a good place to hook up, too)
• Go swing dance your brains out on Saturday night with the Charlottesville swing dance society.
• Visit Staunton and the Shakespearean theater for 12th Night, King Lear or Richard II.
• Hooray for Hopewell – Hopewell’s largest festival is nearly 30 years old. The weekend event features arts and crafts vendors, food concessions, displays by community service groups, children’s rides and a children’s stage featuring a variety of entertainment. Call  (804) 541-0232 for details.
• Did you know that Oktoberfest officially starts on Saturday?  For all the folks that think it starts in October, it always starts in late September.  Celebrate with some local brewery action!

Sorry I have been MIA guys…it is summer I have been out playing and you should be too! This weekend preview will be short and sweet. Get out and have some summer fun (this weekend is supposed to stay under 95 degrees-enjoy it while you can).

The usual Friday line-up will be in full swing: Fridays After Five, Crush Wine Tasting, Market Street Wine Tasting, and Beer Run’s Wine Tasting

• The Augusta County Fair is this weekend – Aug. 5th-9th in Fishersville
• The Paramount Theater presents – Political Intrigue Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• Veritas Vinyards presents – Starry Nights with The Swing Kings (any Friends fans out there? Go.) Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• Lynchburg will be showing Capitan Hook by the River on Saturday night after dark (checkout the link)
• Cville is showing E.T. in the park on Saturday night (I can’t give more details because their site NEVER works for me – see if you can’t check out the link)
• Lastly, UVA is having a “Meet the Players” on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Stadium

Be sure to fill in the blanks I left this week. Have fun and don’t do anything we WOULD do.

Since it’s summertime and the students have started their return to Charlottesville, bars should be triphopping this weekend.  Besides the obvious music and arts events covered by cvilleMUSE, we’ve got a few events that might float your boat or tube.  Whether it’s a barbeque or bluegrass, you have no excuse to get off your butt and go do stuff.  Let us know if we missed anything!

Many of you are Foxfield Races veterans, but perhaps many of you have never been. It’s a huge thing in Charlottesville. But not only does Foxfield appeal to local college students, young professionals and the families that have been doing it for years, it also brings back many UVA Alums, former townies and just those who like to party.

The ongoing joke about Foxfield is that you go to horse races, but you never see the horses. That’s a college joke. If you are out of college, you should see the horses. If you are in college, you need to be too plastered to see the horses, otherwise you haven’t really been to Foxfield.

Foxfield is such a monumental drinking even that people have even written studies about Foxfield and drinking. This study in particular found that 68% of Foxfield drinkers did something negative. Big surprise? I hope not. »Read More
