Here is it April. I keep catching glimpses of the sun and in hopeful anticipation of it sticking round, whip out my sunglasses. The second I get them on the clouds roll in. Sun or no sun, I have definitely got a bad case of spring fever. No matter the man, when I’m walking down the mall, I just want to jump everyone. I even steal extra looks at girls in their cute little skirts. I am in no way interested in them, but can feel the effects of cabin fever reversing. I am ready to go out and play, playmate optional, but preferred.
I know all this built up anxiety and eagerness stem from the need for outdoor physical activity. I am sure you are all right there with me. So in an effort to avoid needing one of those lovely over-the-counter paternity tests, I am offering a list of some outdoor fun to enjoy in the spring in Charlottesville.
Get Outdoors–Meet Some New People with Outdoor Adventure Social Club
Play Some Kickball or Go for a Run
Hike the Appalachian Trail
Or More Hiking…with the lovely city of Cville
Star Watch on Skyline
Enjoy Fridays at 5:00
Winery and Brewery Visits
And then there is a random collection of local things to do (some boring–I’d avoid the tax prep. stuff — others more entertaining)
More simply you could just have Dinner or a Drink Outside at: Blue Light, Miller’s, Sticks, Orzo, McGrady’s, Christian’s, Bizzou, Etc. This is always a guaranteed way to enjoy nice weather, but may not provide much needed spring fever release.

Many of you are Foxfield Races veterans, but perhaps many of you have never been. It’s a huge thing in Charlottesville. But not only does Foxfield appeal to local college students, young professionals and the families that have been doing it for years, it also brings back many UVA Alums, former townies and just those who like to party.
The ongoing joke about Foxfield is that you go to horse races, but you never see the horses. That’s a college joke. If you are out of college, you should see the horses. If you are in college, you need to be too plastered to see the horses, otherwise you haven’t really been to Foxfield.
Foxfield is such a monumental drinking even that people have even written studies about Foxfield and drinking. This study in particular found that 68% of Foxfield drinkers did something negative. Big surprise? I hope not. »Read More

What does spring mean? A list….
1. UVA ladies start tearing off the clothes! Go to The Grounds if you don’t believe me.
2. On April 5th, ZoCaLo will start serving brunch. Also, brunch outdoors becomes a much more realistic endeavor.
3. On April 5th, the City Market will be open!
4. The Vernal Equinox - I know this sounds like some tantric position, but it just means the sun is positioned directly over the equator of the earth and signals the beginning of springtime. It happened at 5:48 this morning. I knew I was happy for a reason.
5. Hiking is back in style. I’ll be heading to Crab Tree Falls one of these weekends.
6. No more freezing your ass off after drinking.
7. Spring fever! Yum.
8. Virginia Festival of the Book starts March 26th.
What is your list?
