Updates on Charlottesville Voter Identity Theft

The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating the theft of two laptop computers belonging to the City Registrars Office from the Tonsler Park voting precinct sometime between 2100 hrs on 11/04/2008 and 0800 hrs 11/05/2008. The building was broken into through a glass door when thieves entered the building.

The stolen computers contained voter registration information to include names, addresses, date of birth, gender, voter identification numbers, and DMV customer numbers. No social security numbers were in the computers and all the information in the computers is protected by multiple layers of security and is at very low risk for accessibility.

Charlottesville Voter Personal Identity Information Stolen

 

Criminal masterminds (or loser assholes) have stolen two laptops from a Tonsler Park building containing names, addresses, date of birth and DMV customer number for every registered voter in the city of Charlottesville.  Luckily for us, that information is encrypted, but now that it’s public knowledge, don’t you think the thieves will find some smart hackers to de-encrypt our information?

Suicidal Pilot In South West Virginia/Roanoke Area

Cessna 172 Stolen Pilot Plane Virginia

It appears as a potentially deadly situation was resolved without incident in Roanoke, Virginia.  A region-wide airplane chase was led by a man who wanted to crash a stolen Cessna 172 plane (pictured above) into Smith Mountain Lake.  The plane was stolen this morning before 11AM from the Roanoke Regional Airport.  Evacuations had occurred at Bridgewater Plaza and it sounds like the region was in quite a stir. The man landed the plane and was chased down by the FBI. I thought they shot down planes that were out of control?

The suicidal, runaway pilot did not get approval from air traffic control.   The chase occurred all over South West Virginia.  We put together a map of the points of sighting and interpolated a flight area of the plane.  Thank goodness no one got hurt.
