Vandals Step It Up, Attack Police Vehicles

Two police cruisers were broken into over this past weekend (12/30-01/04) at a police substation near the Walker Square apartments.  Both the marked cruiser and unmarked vehicle had their drivers side window smashed, and various items looted.  A police bag was located this morning on 6th & a Half Street, and a few items were recovered.  Of the items still missing is a model X26 Taser and a black armored vest.  Police are asking that if you have any tips, to contact Crimestoppers @ 977-4000.  [Photo Credits]

Charlottesville Misrepresenting Car Crime Statistics?

From a reliable birdie…

Don’t know if this is blog worthy, but maybe something to share with friends to see if we can get the word out.  The news stations are reporting “a string” of car thefts around town this weekend.  The police spokesperson didn’t seem to give them an accurate picture of what happened.  Cars were vandalized and stolen along Park Street and into the Greenbriar neighborhood.  FIFTY would be a conservative estimate of the number of cars damaged. I have heard a few numbers, all higher than that.

Pink Paintballs spotted in Belmont right by Mas. Keep youryes peeled. But don’t get pink eye. The pic may look like gross gum spit, but the paintball casing was about feet (1.2 meters) away.

So, are they back? Did anyone get pink paintballed?
