Unbelievable concert last Thursday, they covered everything a fan could wish to hear, including ‘The Heart’s A Lonely Hunter’, which was originally performed with David Byrne of Talking Heads fame. Exceptional performances from each of the band members, combined with beautiful vocals and pounding bass lines mad it easily the best show we’ve seen at the Pavilion. Afterwards, the band easily convinced to try out Ventana, where everyone spent the rest of the evening sampling Michaels tequila wall, and Rob Garza proved to be a fan of the Mayor Anejo. Unfortunately his partner, Eric Hilton, was unable to attend the performance.

First off, thanks to the 50+ people who showed up to support the cause last night. We really appreciate all of you checking out Ventana, donating, and mingling your butts off. And not only did you come, a ton of you showed up within minutes of the opening time. And I met Thor. Yes, Thor, the O.G.
Michael had numerous trays of appetizers and desserts floating around, and while I only tried the delicious escargot, I heard others talking very positively about everything that came out. The Spicy Bears (jalapeño margaritas with cayenne dipped gummy bears) were great as always, and I saw quite a few Villains partaking of the new tequila wall.
My camera is currently missing, but I saw quite a few snapping photos, if you would please forward them to gossip @ cVillain . com we will get them added to the Flickr account. Now on to the…

Ventana means “window” in Spanish. Rightly so, this little restaurant has big windows and a big vision for Charlottesville’s mexican cuisine. I’m not going to lie, I heard many things about this place being pricey. Dollar signs aren’t something we associate with Mexican in this town. Between “eating” at Guadalajara to dining at the much better Aqui Es Mexico and Michoacana, I don’t think anything comes close to the prices at Ventana, but does the food live up to its price?
For weeks, I have attempted to drink an El Dinero without having to pay for it. I love all things tequila, but I could never see myself paying $100 for a single drink. When the drink was first discussed on cVillain, many of us said it would be much smarter to drink the ingredients separately, but I wanted to know exactly what the combination tasted like. Friday night, I accomplished this goal. I have to say it was the most delicious drink I have tasted in my entire life (except for the echo). As we are all well aware, the El Dinero is a margarita made of Cuervo Reserva de la Familia, Gran Marnier 150, Fresh lime and sea foam. These ingredients combine to create a drink that is simultaneously sweet, delicious, and deserving of a spot in tequila heaven.
One might wonder how a person such as myself might end up with a free drink that has a $100 price tag. Let me tell you my story…
Yes, Charlottesville is now in the big leauges. Not only do we have a ridiculous music and arts scene, but we now have the token expensive drink. Ventana, Charlottesville’s newest hip Mexican restaurant (at Kiki’s former resting spot) has a very expensive (possibly the most expensive in all of cville) item on its drink menu (as written on their menu):
el Dinero ($100 pony up, cheapskate!)
