‘Alaskan Bush People’: Ami without Billy for First Time since She Was 15
Alaskan Bush People star Ami Brown navigates life today without Billy Brown, who she’s been married to since she was only 15-years-old. The father of this wilderness brood was 26 when he married Ami back in 1979.
But despite the 11-year age difference they seemed to make the perfect match. Fans of this Discovery Channel series witnessed a mutual admiration between Ami and her husband through a dozen seasons of Alaskan Bush People.
Alaskan Bush People: Ami Brown & Billy Brown Inseparable
This Alaskan Bush People couple appeared as soulmates, who always seemed to be together. Whether it was for a walk around the ranch or a road trip for purchasing a bull, they seemed to truly enjoy each other’s company.
Billy died in February at the age of 68, leaving 57-year-old Ami without him after 40-plus years of marriage. Thankfully they raised a big family, who all but one came back to the ranch that Billy envisioned for his family. So the couple was surrounded by family and Ami still is today
Because illness struck Ami Brown a few years back, Billy Brown needed to move the family out of the Alaskan wilderness. This way Ami was close to the medical treatment she needed.
So they purchased rural acres on a mountain in Washington State. This became the new place where the couple and their adult kids planned to continue with their original dream. That dream entailed a life off-grid on their North Star Ranch.

For years, Matt Brown would often talk to the cameras on the family’s behalf. But in recent years he’s not with the family on the mountain. So, Bear Brown took over. He informed the Alaskan Bush People followers of his dad’s death.
According to the previews for the new season premiere, the entire family shares memories about the husband and dad they just lost. But fans will have their eye on Ami Brown, who for the first time in her adult life, is without the patriarch of the Alaskan Bush People.
Alaskan Bush People: Laying Billy To Rest
It appears Billy Brown’s final resting place sits on that mountain, a place meant to be the Brown’s forever home. As Soap Dirt previously reported, the Browns are a close-knit family. So, the kids pretty much stayed with their parents for most of their lives as well.
While some moved away, they always seemed to return. All the kids were building homes on that mountain in the last Alaskan Bush People season. That is except for Matt Brown.

In the ABP season 13 preview, the family adjusts to life without the father and husband they loved. But looking back it seemed he knew his days were numbered, Snowbird tells the cameras. While Ami sounds strong during a few clips in the preview, she looks sad at the same time.
This season of Alaskan Bush People leads up to the death of the family’s leader and the aftermath of his passing. Snowbird also worries on camera if they can do this without her dad. After all, Billy Brown was the driving force of the Brown Family.
