‘Alaskan Bush People’ Update: How is Ami Brown after Billy Brown’s Death?

Alaskan Bush People chronicled the deep love between Ami Brown and Billy Brown up until he died abruptly while filming. So, how is Ami doing now, a little over a year after he passed away?

Alaskan Bush People: Billy Brown Dead — How Long Was He Married to Ami Brown?

When Billy Brown from Alaskan Bush People died on February 7, 2021, he’d been married to Ami Brown for almost 42 years. They married on June 16, 1979, when she was just 15 and he was 26 years old.

The Brown family patriarch was 68 when he died leaving his wife Ami a widow at age 57. Over their more than 41 years of marriage, Ami gave birth to seven children with Billy.

They also had three grandchildren. The Alaskan Bush People offspring are sons Matt Brown, Joshua “Bam Bam” Brown, Bear Brown, Gabriel Brown, and Noah Brown.

They had two daughters also, Rainbow “Rain” Brown, and Snowbird “Bird” Brown. Their three grandkids are Noah’s son, Elijah Brown — Gabriel’s daughter Sophie — and Bear’s son River Brown.

Staying Busy Keeping the Dream Alive

Since losing her husband Billy Brown, it looks like Ami Brown wants to finish what he started. At North Star Ranch, the family continues to work on their projects to make it a homestead for everyone.

Ami said they’d continue on with the plans since going is “what they do”. In fact, many fans said they liked seeing Ami speaking up in Season 13 and taking charge of the family.

She said on Alaskan Bush People last season that he was there “in spirit” watching over her and their seven children. According to the latest info, Ami still hopes to make Billy’s dream happen.

And that’s for North Star Ranch to be a successful working ranch. And it seems it’s all in her hands now. Billy reportedly died without a will, so Ami Brown stepped up as executor and to manage his assets.

Will Alaskan Bush People Get Another Season with Ami after Losing Billy?

It was Billy Brown that got the family on reality TV. And he’s reportedly the one that made all the decisions — including to exile oldest son Matt Brown from Alaskan Bush People after a public battle with addiction.

Now, though, with Billy gone, will Ami get a new season out of Discovery TV? So far, there’s no indication from the network that they picked up Season 14.

Now, there are no hints on the Brown family’s social media of them taping. Season 13 kicked off in September of 2021. And they were taping in February 2021 when Billy Brown passed away.

So, if they stuck to that schedule, cameras would be with Ami Brown and her children right now. But there are other concerns than just the show. Someone’s suing Billy’s estate for a half-million dollars.

Robert Maughon sued the estate claiming he gave $10k to Billy twice in exchange for 10% of profits of certain endeavors. The case seems to be stalled in federal court. One issue may be Maughon’s own imprisonment.

The former physician was stripped of his business licensed and sentenced to federal prison until 2023. So, it’s unclear if Ami Brown will have to deal with this attack on Billy Brown’s estate after all.
