Alaskan Bush People’s Billy Brown was able to meet his grandson before passing away earlier this month.
The Discovery Channel star’s son Bear remembered his father fondly in a private Instagram post showing his 11-month-old son River with his granddad shortly before his unexpected death at 68.
‘I’m glad my Dad got to meet my son, his grandson,’ the 33-year-old captioned the shot, adding: ‘I will always remember the twinkle in his eyes when he held him! Hold tight to your loved ones! You never know when it’s the last moment you’ll get with them.’

Bear announced the news of his father’s death earlier this month, taking to Instagram to write: ‘We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure.’
The star shared a photo of his hunter and fisherman dad Billy as well as his mother Ami Brown.
He was our best friend — a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed.’

Brown added, ‘He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well.’
Bear also said: ‘We plan to honor his legacy going forward, and to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time. God Bless Everyone!’
Discovery had worked with the patriarch since 2014.
‘We are devastated to hear of Billy Brown’s sudden passing,’ a spokesperson for Discovery said in a statement to People.

Ami, 57, had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 causing her family to move to North Cascade Mountains in Washington. In 2018 she was told she was cancer free.
Alaskan Bush People is a reality documentary style TV show that follows Billy and his wife Ami as well as their seven children – five sons and two daughters – in Copper River Valley.
The family lived off the grid in the wild where they went months without seeing other human beings.

They called themselves the Wolf Pack because the stuck together and developed their own dialect.
The sons are Matt, Bam Bam, Bear, Gabe, Noah, and the daughters are Birdy and Rainy.
The last episode of their show aired in October. The synopsis: It’s late fall and the Browns kickstart their ambitious cabin build. Bam and Gabe go on a deer hunt as the family scrambles to pull off an ‘extreme’ wedding on the mountain, but days before the ceremony, things take an unexpected turn.
Billy grew up in Texas. At the age of 16 his mother, father and sister died in a plane crash.
