Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw teases huge New Year story for Bob’s twins

Heath and Cathy hope will find themselves involved in a huge New Year's storyline.

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw has teased a huge New Year story involving Bob Hope’s teenage children Heath and Cathy.

Upcoming scenes – set to air on Monday, January 1 – will see the twins plot with Angelica King to attend a New Year’s Eve bash in a nearby town, stealing Wendy Posner’s car to attend the party after Bob is too busy to give them a lift.

However, when the trio’s parents discover their plan, it’s already too late and the teenagers are speeding dangerously to the party.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media about the dramatic episode, Audenshaw revealed that Bob will be left concerned for Heath and Cathy’s safety after discovering their plan.

“He can’t believe that they’ve done it. It’s unclear, actually, whether he knows that Cathy can drive or not.” he said, explaining that Bob is preoccupied after being roped into Nicola King’s last minute party at the B&B to give the teenagers a lift.

He continued: “I think he’s more concerned. Obviously because of the nature of what’s happened in the last few months a lot of behaviour has been tied in with Cathy’s PMDD… So he’s concerned, I think, more than anything.”

Touching on Bob’s feelings about his ability as a parent, the actor added that he’s under a lot of pressure with the last-minute party plan and hadn’t thought about the consequences of not offering the teenagers a lift.

“As a parent myself, it can be awkward sometimes giving your kids a lift or picking them up late at night,” Audenshaw said.

“Had he just thought, ‘Well I can give you a lift,’ then it might have panned out differently. They wouldn’t have taken the car. It’s as simple as that, really.”

The actor also heaped praise on Heath and Cathy actors Gabrielle and Sebastian Dowling, adding that it was “brilliant” to see the real-life twins involved in the storyline.

“It’s been brilliant,” he said. “I think it’s quite extraordinary that they’re real twins and they’re playing real twins. They’re fabulous kids, the two of them.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
