General Hospital Recap: Tuesday, August 1 – Kristina’s Surrogate Replacement – Cyrus’ Afterlife – Drew’s Punishment

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 1, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) admitted it was too late for him to steer clear of Pikeman, so Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) asked how involved he was with them.

Suddenly, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) interrupted with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), who had given her a ride to the Metro Court after she had some car trouble.

That led to Kristina insisting they should join Sonny and Anna, so she sat down along with Dante and wanted answers about the risky incident at the pool recently.

Kristina eventually said she wanted to freshen up and added that she wanted to hear everything when she got back.

In the ladies’ room, Kristina ran into Trish (Trish Ramish) the hostess. Trish admitted Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) had been bragging on Kristina and that she was proud of the youth center Kristina was starting.

Kristina was surprised and got emotional when Trish told a story about her brother, Teddy, getting kicked out by their parents for being gay when he was 15.

Trish appreciated the work Kristina was doing on a personal level and got a promise that she’d be invited to the youth center’s opening.

Meanwhile, Dante talked to Anna and Sonny about the possibilities they’d been mulling around – especially the WSB’s potential involvement.

There was talk about whether someone besides Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) might’ve wanted Anna out of the WSB to stop her from digging around.

After Sonny stepped away to speak with Kristina, she turned down his attempt to buy her a reliable new car.

Kristina was more focused on the youth center and was starting to see the potential to change the world despite her doubts.

Back with Anna, she suggested she’d reconsidered the idea of serving as bait. Anna didn’t think Dante needed to be glued to her side anyway since the WSB wouldn’t use the same method twice if they were indeed targeting her.

It could be a long time before they tried anything again, so Dante agreed to stand down for now.

That said, Dante made Anna promise to let him know if something changed.

At Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) house, she was in the kitchen making cookies with Avery Corinthos-Davis (Ava and Grace Scarola) when Ava Jerome (Maura West) arrived.

Avery worried Ava wanted to take her home and protested since she wanted to stay for cookies as well as a movie with Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears).

Ava assured Avery that she just wanted to see her little girl and wouldn’t steal her away from the fun.

While Avery was in the other room, Carly wondered what was going on and assumed this had something to do with the new nanny.

Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) didn’t like Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini), so Carly was suspicious and assumed Ava was up to her old tricks.

It seemed like Sonny was helping Ava for Avery’s sake.

Ava threatened to end the interrogation by taking Avery away from the sleepover, but Carly said she’d tell Sonny if Ava did that.

Carly thought Sonny wanted Avery at her house because it was safe.

Once Avery popped back up, Ava asked for a big hug before her daughter rejoined Donna for their movie.

Carly hoped Ava knew what she was doing, so Ava thanked her before heading out.

At The Invader, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) admitted to Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) that Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) called to ask if anything was wrong with him.

Alexis said that she lied and told Tracy that Gregory as in good health as far as she knew.

Gregory appreciated Alexis covering for him, but she wondered how long he could continue to hide his ALS diagnosis.

Although Gregory promised to tell Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) soon, he just wanted to savor the good times before the terrible ending.

Gregory also told Alexis that he was grateful for her confidence and friendship.

At home, Molly Lansing-Davis (Brooke Anne Smith) filled TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) in on Kristina finding her stuffed horse and brightening her day with a visit.

TJ wondered if the surrogacy came up, so Molly said no – though she admitted she’d been thinking about a lot of baby-related things.

Molly wanted to talk through their options and make sure they were on the same page, so she got confirmation that TJ wanted to be a dad and that his preference would be if he were the biological father.

TJ was ready to have a baby now, so Molly was on board with all that and also wanted to start their family ASAP. That just left the decision of whether Kristina would be their surrogate.

After talking that over with Alexis, Molly didn’t think they should ask Kristina and felt that she didn’t fully understand the commitment.

TJ agreed, especially since Kristina would be busy with the youth center.

Once TJ mentioned the research he’d done on a surrogacy agency, Molly was happy to be in sync with him. TJ and Molly got cozy on the sofa as they shouted joyfully about having a baby.

At Pentonville, a fight in another cell block caused a lockdown and made it so the doctor couldn’t get through with the defibrillator.

Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) eventually had to start CPR on Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) as he begged him to hang on.

After Cyrus walked into the light, he imagined he woke up wearing a suit on a cot in a jail cell. As red smoke billowed near the floor, Cyrus insisted this was wrong and that he didn’t belong there.

A vision of Laura Collins (Genie Francis) appeared and insisted this was exactly where Cyrus deserved to be for all eternity.

Laura argued that Cyrus built this prison through his cruelty to other people and his lust for power.

Once Laura said Cyrus should’ve made other choices, he told her that he tried! Cyrus confessed that the night he held Laura hostage, he was tempted to take her out so that he wouldn’t have to perish alone.

Since Cyrus ultimately realized he couldn’t do that, he gave the police their chance to take him down – that way, Laura would be protected.

Laura had moments where she seemed to understand Cyrus’ pain inside the cell with him, but then she’d magically appear outside the bars and grow colder again.

Laura finally declared that Cyrus was the only one keeping himself locked in there and disappeared. Cyrus begged Laura not to go, but then he walked out the cell door.

Back in the real world, Cyrus opened his eyes and started breathing again. Cyrus was put on a gurney and given oxygen before being wheeled out for a GH trip.

Although the guard praised Drew for saving Cyrus’ life, he shocked Drew with the news that he still had to take him to solitary confinement for fighting.

General Hospital spoilers say Drew has more prison drama in his future, so stay tuned for updates on the rocky road ahead.
