Alaskan Bush People has been a long-running Discovery Channel show. It premiered in 2014 to document the life of the Brown family from Hoonah, Alaska. The ever-increasing popularity of the show is a result of castmates’ love for enjoying their lives in the wilderness.
However, the show has featured several futile and efficacious attempts of the Brown family members to live away from modern society. They did so until they had to relocate to Washington for Ami Brown’s treatment after she was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Billy Brown (The Brown Family Patriarch)
The entire Brown family has gone through the heart-wrenching pain of losing their family patriarch. The unfortunate incident took place on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Billy passed away at the age of 68 after suffering a fatal seizure. He died filming season 13 of the long-running series.
The tragic Alaskan Bush People death took place inside the family’s Washington home. By that time, Billy was already suffering from several health issues. He had heart problems, kidney and breathing issues, among numerous other problems.
Billy had often made his way in and out of the hospital and was even advised by the doctor to avoid staying at higher altitudes. But the Brown family patriarch chose to live his life on his own terms and continued being in the mountains.
His son Bear Brown revealed the devastating news of the Alaskan Bush People castmate death a day after the tragic incident. He went on to describe Billy as a wonderful grandfather, husband, and loving dad by adding that they would miss him.

Billy was survived by his wife, Ami Brown, seven kids (Rain, Matthew, Bear, Garbriel, Snowbird, Joshua, and Noah), and numerous grandchildren. Amber Branson (Ami Brown’s Niece)
Besides losing Billy, the brown family matriarch Ami Brown lost her niece Amber. This news came a few months before Ami lost her husband. Amber was struggling with her mental health when she reportedly set herself on fire. This terrible ordeal took place on her Hudson Oaks, Texas, property on April 29, 2020.
The authorities found her lying on the lawn with over 90% of her body covered in severe burns. She went on to confess it was self-inflicted and called it a ‘faith test.’ As per reports, she admitted to using an insect repellent to set herself on fire.
While the officers could smell gasoline, and an empty can of the same was later found tossed over her neighbor’s fence. Amber’s family took her off life support on April 30, 2020. They took this step after the doctor declared that her burn wounds were not survivable.
Amber Brown passed away on May 1, 2020, at the age of 44, being another member making it to the list of Alaskan Bush People deaths. The news of her demise was later brought to common knowledge by her uncle Les Branson. He shared the news on Facebook.
Larry Rene Branson (Ami Brown’s Brother & Amber’s Father)
The third person who made it to the list of Alaskan Bush People deaths is Larry Rene Branson. Merely two months after losing his daughter Amber, Rene lost his battle with cancer. He had renal cell carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer.
He underwent surgery in 2018 to remove his first kidney, but the cancer had spread to his adrenal glands by September 19. Then, Larry’s cancer rapidly spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, and spine in no time. Alas, cancer took his life on July 22, 2020.
The news of his passing was confirmed by his brother, Les Branson, on Wednesday morning. Billy Brown’s unexpected demise followed after this Alaskan Bush People death. Rene was survived by his kids, Donnie, Shannon, and Danny.
Mr. Cupcake (Brown Family Dog)
The Brown family mourned the loss of another member merely months after Billy’s death. The devastating news of another Alaskan Bush People death was disclosed by the youngest Brown sibling, Rain Brown.
She took to her Instagram to announce the death of her furry friend, Mr. Cupcake, aka “Cuppie,” in October 2021. The Belgian Tervuren joined their family in 2015 and quickly became an amazing guard dog. He protected the family from the unwanted guests or intruders.
Bird, the oldest of the Wolf Pack, was alone when she found out that Mr. Cupcake had died during the night. Filled with plight, she shared with her older brother Bear that their dog did not wake up. This Alaskan Bush People death was equally devastating for the fans as for the family members.
Rain Brown was merely nine when her father, Billy, brought the Belgian Tervuren home. In fact, she was the one to name it ‘Mr. Cupcake.’ He was a smart and family-oriented dog who fulfilled its purpose of being a faithful companion for Billy’s two daughters.
The faithful pup was one of the most loved members of the entire Brown family. Later in one of the episodes, fans learned that Mr. Cupcake was in danger after three gunshots were heard in the distance.
As the episode continued, the elder daughter of the Wolf clan, Snowbird, disclosed that their beloved dog had passed away. She was heard saying that he just did not wake up that day.
Bear & Raiven Brown Lost Their Baby
Raiven and Bear had a turbulent relationship for quite some time. She debuted in Alaskan Bush People during their courtship period, but they broke up after things turned bitter. They later got engaged in 2019, followed by a split.
Raiven gave birth to their first kid, River Brown, on March 9, 2020, when they shared a bitter bond. The couple later reunited from April to August 2021 and called it quits for some time. They finally said ‘I Do’ on January 16, 2022.
Raiven Brown later blamed their 2021 split for their miscarriage. This Alaskan Bush People death must have been difficult both for Bear and Raiven. The void in her heart appeared to be filling after she announced her second pregnancy on 28 May 2022.

Matt shared that one of the three birds could not make it through the cold night. Fighting his tears, he mentioned that one of the birds died. He shared that his house was too cold the night when the baby bird crawled out of its nest.
He went on to add that the bird was stiff and cold when he found it but was unable to bring it back despite warming it up and feeding it. Brown later shared that the other two baby birds were fine. Thankfully, he just had a few injuries, but a woman lost her life in the same accident. The twenty-four-year-old woman was seated in the passenger seat of a black Chevrolet Camaro. Gabriella Garcia Harrison had slammed into the reality TV star’s car.
