  • Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock is facing backlash about starring in “The Blind Side” based on controversial facts that recently came out concerning the real-life story the movie is based on.
  • The vitriol against the star comes at the same time she is mourning the loss of her partner, who passed away recently.
  • Despite many saying Bullock should give back the Oscar she won, others have come to her defense.

Famous Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock, 59, has suffered the devastating loss of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, who passed away on a Saturday earlier this month. Randall was 57 years old and had been battling a nervous system disease called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly referred to as ALS.

Randall, a former model who became a photographer, met Bullock in January 2015. He photographed Bullock’s son’s birthday party, and after this encounter, the two publicized their relationship later on in that same year.

Amid Grieving the Loss of Her Partner, Sandra Bullock Has Faced Backlash over the Michael Oher Controversy

Bullock is currently facing an extremely tough situation. Not only has she just lost her beloved partner, Randall, but now the star is facing backlash for starring in the critically-acclaimed movie “The Blind Side.” The “Bird Box” star is facing harsh criticism because of the recent controversy surrounding the true story the film is based on.

The movie centers around an African-American character born into a life of poverty who gets adopted by a white family and becomes a professional football star. A few days ago, media outlets published news about Michael Oher, the real-life person who the movie is about, filing a petition alleging that the Tuohy family never adopted him and, in fact, used him for financial gain.

Although many were quick to criticize the “Ocean’s 8” star, others were just as quick to defend her.

Oher filed the petition at a court in Tennesee on Monday. Far from what the movie claims, the document alleges that Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy tricked Oher into signing a conservatorship once he turned 18.

This granted the husband and wife legal authority to profit from business dealings made in Oher’s name, with him reaping non of the financial gains. Oher’s filing also asserts that the Tuohys, including their biological children, made millions in royalties from the film based on his life story, leaving him out of the shares.

Oher is seeking to end the conservatorship, hence the petition filing, despite Sean and Leigh Ann denying the allegations. Additionally, Sean has claimed that his family could only adopt Oher through a conservatorship because he was 18 at the time. He also asserted that Oher received his share of royalties from the film.

As far as how the controversy has affected Bullock, many people on Twitter have called for the revoking of the Oscar-winner’s award. Despite Bullock, who played Leigh Ann Tuohy in the film, knowing nothing about or having nothing to do with the recent allegations, critics still want her to face repercussions.
