We Need To Talk About David Tennant’s Doctor Who Future
The risk of keeping David Tennant around is the fact that does a lot of people’s attention turn to HIM as the doctor and the current Doctor gets ignored to any extent. will he make any current Doctor obsolete.
The year is 2062. The nurse in the retirement home goes from room to room, to get the elderly people out into the dining hall for breakfast. But one room is empty. She rushes to the other nurses to report that the inhabitant is missing. But she’s told “Don’t worry, this happens every ten years with that guy. He said he wants to convince the BBC to get a few more specials for this long-running TV show he starred in so many years ago…”
As much as I love David as The Doctor and am really looking forward to the 3 specials, I really do not think it would be fair to the new Doctor if a spin off with David, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
Hmmm … Tennant is 52 already … BUT Bradley, Davison, Baker and McCoy were willing to somewhat return, so …
I always liked Tennant as the Dr, so glad to see him and Donna reminded for the Specials.
I hope DT keeps coming back as the Doctor. In any capacity. He nails the performance every single time. He obviously has a great love for the character, and the show, and I could watch him in the role forever.
Although he is my second favourite Doctor (after the Eleventh), I think that the showrunners bringing him back repetitively is them holding on a bit too hard to that peak from 2005-2010. I think that after this, they need to stop as it steals attention from other Doctors (like the Eleventh and Fifteenth) if they keep on bringing him back, and even give him roles as TWO Doctors.
