Emmerdale’s latest episode no doubt left viewers with questions, after a scene involving Dawn Taylor discussing her mum.
Dawn and husband Billy Fletcher are preparing to welcome their baby, with pregnant Dawn now past her due date. Her dad Will Taylor was trying to give her tips on how to bring on her labour, with Dawn not impressed.
Dawn reminded her dad she was only a day past her due date and was fine with a late arrival. Her stepmother Kim Tate backed this, making a comment about her now grown up son Jamie Tate being late.
But something Will then said to his daughter may spark confusion with fans. Will spoke of his ex and Dawn’s mother, discussing her pregnancy with Dawn.
He commented that Dawn’s mum carried her two weeks past her due date. He told her: “Your mother was two weeks late with you. They booked her in to be induced but she weren’t having any of that, so she tried every trick in the book.”

This may be the only time if one of the few times Dawn’s biological mother has been mentioned on the show. Dawn’s mother has never appeared on the ITV soap, and fans have no idea who she is.
We have never seen the backstory of Will and his ex, or Dawn and her mother, explored. Monday’s episode is the first real mention of the mystery character, who was not married to Will, and Dawn’s mother left their lives at some point before Dawn was five years old.
Her fate is not known as we do not know whether Dawn’s mother is dead or alive, and she currently has no known name. Will was introduced as the ex of former character Harriet Finch when he arrived in the village in 2019.
Harriet was confirmed to be Dawn’s stepmother, with Dawn revealing that after being brought up by her dad Will she was led to believe he had died after he went to prison. Things came to a head when Will headed to the village for revenge on Harriet, after it emerged she was an undercover officer who got him sent down.
After time, the trio made amends with each other. Harriet was killed off on the soap in tragic scenes last year, during the big storm, while Will is now married to Kim.
