By the time Dimitri arrived in Salem and moved into the DiMera mansion, he only had a few weeks to honor his mother’s wishes.
It didn’t take long for Dimitri to charm Gwen. It seems Gwen was smitten from the moment she began her initial interview with Dimitri. This made it easy for Dimitri to manipulate and trick Gwen, especially considering her past.
Due to Gwen’s childhood, she is desperate for love and family. Unfortunately, Gwen does all the wrong things.
Then, Gwen gets angry and bitter when she loses the love and/or family she’s craved for so long. That made it extremely easy for Dimitri to pretend they had similar childhoods and things in common.
DOOL Spoilers – Leo Stark’s Secret
Before Dimitri and Gwen married, Leo expressed his objections. However, then a curveball landed in Leo’s lap.
Now Leo and Dimitri are having a scandalous affair, which Gwen doesn’t know about yet. Leo objected during Dimitri and Gwen’s wedding. However, when all eyes were on Leo, he couldn’t bring himself to hurt Gwen like that.

Dimitri could lose the millions he stands to gain from marrying by his 40th birthday if the truth comes out. So, Dimitri won’t want Gwen to divorce him or say anything about Leo. Since Gwen insists that they have similar traumas and childhoods, she will feel betrayed.
It would be one thing if Dimitri was honest with Gwen and asked her to marry him. Dimitri could have tempted Gwen to say yes by allowing her to spend the millions on whatever she wanted.
However, Dimitri chose to deceive Gwen instead. So, Gwen will be furious. Dimitri might try to get Gwen to keep quiet by buying her off. If that doesn’t work, then Dimitri could use one of Gwen’s secrets to force her to comply.
Fans (and the other characters) weren’t buying Gwen’s story about Laura Horton’s (Jaime Lyn Bauer) accidental death. Some believe it was murder but what exactly happened wasn’t shown on screen.
If Gwen truly felt connected to Dimitri, she could have told him the truth about Laura’s death. That might force Gwen to stay in a loveless marriage and keep quiet about Dimitri’s scandalous affair.
At some point, the truth will come out. That could spell bad news and even a prison sentence for Gwen.
