Doctor Who Art Shows Every Version Of The Time Lord Together, Including The 15th Doctor

Every version of the Time Lord is represented in art for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary, including the War Doctor and the Fugitive Doctor.

New Doctor Who art features every version of the character seen on screen, including the upcoming Fifteenth Doctor. Originating in 1963, Doctor Who is a beloved British sci-fi show that follows the Doctor through all of space and time, and over the course of the show has been played by a number of different actors. By having the main character regenerate every few seasons, the show has been able to stay fresh and maintain its longevity.

Ahead of the release of the Doctor Who 60th-anniversary specials, artist aljeensane has shared new art that includes every incarnation of the Doctor.

Shown in the art is every Doctor from the First to the upcoming Fifteenth. Also included are two other versions, the War Doctor (John Hurt) and the Fugitive Doctor (Jo Martin).

How Doctor Who Has Been Able To Continue For 60 Years

First Doctor in the TARDIS Thinking in Doctor Who

As seen in the art above, Doctor Who has been a part of pop culture for 60 years and counting. This longevity is largely due to the clever trick of being able to replace the lead actor while still keeping the same character through a process called regeneration. When the First Doctor actor, William Hartnell, began suffering from declining health, he was replaced by Patrick TroughtonDoctor Who‘s regeneration has been utilized to keep the show going for all this time.

Despite Doctor Who being cancelled in 1989, the series would return for a TV movie in 1996, and then a full revival in 2005. Interest in the show is often built on the charisma of the leading Doctor. Not only is the show able to keep up with modern times and sensibilities through regular regenerations, but if the show ever wanes in popularity, a new actor can be brought in to reinvigorate interest.

With Doctor Who season 14 already completed, and the following season in the middle of production, new Doctor stories will still be around for years to come. With so many different actors taking on the role, as seen in the art, viewers can expect to see more versions of the Doctor in the future. And for special occasions, some of those actors might cross paths in Doctor Who.
