Doctor Who Clip Teases Where The TARDIS Brought The Doctor & Donna After Cliffhanger Ending

A new Doctor Who clip teases where the TARDIS brings Donna Noble and the Doctor after the cliffhanger ending of the first special, "The Star Beast."

A new Doctor Who clip teases where the TARDIS brings the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble at the end of the first special. The popular British sci-fi show returned this past weekend with the first of three 60th anniversary specials, titled “The Star Beast.” The second of those specials, “Wild Blue Yonder,” is set for release on December 2.

A brand-new clip from Doctor Who‘s “Wild Blue Yonder” teases where Donna and the Doctor go at the end of “The Star Beast.” In the clip from the Doctor Who channel on YouTube, Donna and the Doctor have just landed somewhere in the TARDIS.

As the Time Lord discusses possible fixes for the issue, Donna gradually realizes that his words mean that they have “landed in the middle of a hostile action.” During the preview, a cut to a vent in the TARDIS, accompanied by an eerie sound effect, hints that the TARDIS’ danger is close to Donna and the Doctor.

How Doctor Who “The Star Beast” Sets High Stakes For “Wild Blue Yonder”?

Doctor Who’s first special, “The Star Beast,” included twists and turns that took the episode in a surprising direction. From the first minute of the special, it is established that Donna will die if she remembers who the Doctor is. Not only does there turn out to be a loophole to this logic, but Donna ends up thrust back into the Time Lord’s tales all over again when a short trip into the TARDIS backfires and leaves the Doctor and Donna catapulted into an unknown location.

“The Star Beast” also establishes high stakes and character motivation for the reinvented Donna Noble. The Doctor Who special established that Donna’s love for her daughter, Rose, is now her paramount drive in life. Rose is someone whom she loves supremely and for whom she risks her own death. These stakes are re-established in this preview clip for “Wild Blue Yonder,” as one of Donna’s first lines is “Rose is waiting.”

As per the preview, the next Doctor Who episode will escalate this tension by including external dangers. The exact nature of the lurking threats remains to be seen. Combined with the intensity of Donna’s motivation to save her daughter, however, “Wild Blue Yonder” is slated to be a Doctor Who adventure with severe and emotional consequences.
