Leo knows that Sonny is grieving the loss of his uncle Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston). Leo is aware that Victor died in an unexpected plane crash.
Sonny had been out of the country at the time of Victor’s death. Sonny has decided that he needs to come back to Salem to help his family.
Leo knows that Victor did not approve of his friendship with Sonny because they share a problematic past. Leo had tried to come between Sonny and his husband Will Horton (Chandler Massey).
Leo and Sonny had been able to find a way to put their troubled past behind them to become friends. Leo hopes that he will be able to help Sonny deal with losing Victor because Leo knows that Sonny will be devastated that Victor has died.
DOOL Spoilers – Leo Stark Distracts Sonny Kiriakis With Personal News
Leo may believe that Sonny needs to be distracted from the pain of losing Victor. Leo may believe that he should tell Sonny about his turbulent love life. Leo has gotten into a relationship with Dimitri Von Leuchsner (Peter Porte).
Leo has tried to stay away from Dimitri because he has married his best friend Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien). Leo knows that Dimitri married Gwen because he wants to get control of the Von Leuchsner fortune.
Dimitri believed that his family would not accept that he would want to marry Leo because his family believes in traditional relationships. Leo hopes that Dimitri will be able to inherit the Von Leuchsner fortune.
Leo had been shocked that Dimitri wanted him to come with him and Gwen on their honeymoon to Iceland. Leo had decided that he would come to Iceland to be with Dimitri. Leo and Dimitri had nearly been caught in the act by Gwen.
Leo was able to convince Gwen that he had come to Iceland to go a secret birthday concert for Madonna. Leo does not want to hurt Gwen but he cannot stay away from Dimitri. Leo may believe that Sonny can help him with deal with his problems with Dimitri and Gwen.

Leo may believe his romantic problems would be a good distraction for Sonny. Leo hopes that Sonny will give him the advice he needs to be able to have Gwen and Dimitri in his life.
