Daytime Emmy Award winner Billy Miller, who was best known for his role on soap operas The Young and the Restless and General Hospital, has died. He would’ve turned 44 on Sunday.
Miller died on Friday in Austin, Texas according to a statement from his manager obtained by PEOPLE. He was “struggling with manic depression when he died,” his manager said. No specific cause of death was cited.
The actor was known for his roles in several soaps, starting with All My Children in 2007. He went on to star in The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2014, and earned three Daytime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Billy Abbott — outstanding supporting actor in a drama series in 2010 and 2013 and outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2014.
He later joined ABC’s General Hospital as Jake Doe before he took over for Steve Burton’s role of Jason Morgan from 2016 to 2017. With Burton’s return to the show, Miller starred as Morgan’s twin, Drew Cain for two seasons before departing the soap in 2019.
