Days of Our Lives Recap: Friday, July 21 – Possessed Marlena Treated Whitley, Philip Secret Leaks and Horror at the Docks

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, July 21, reveals that Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) called Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and offered updates on his flight to Los Angeles with John Black (Drake Hogestyn).

Since Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.) might’ve wanted to restart his acting career, John and Steve had taken a chance in hopes of beating his bus there. Sure enough, Jerry got off the bus and was cornered by Steve as well as John.

That led to Jerry admitting Whitley King’s (Kim Coles) whole plan and how she dragged him into it.

Jerry confirmed that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) was alive and was surprised Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) hadn’t spread the news by now.

John left a message for Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and then tried calling someone else since they had to tell someone in Salem the truth.

At Whitley’s apartment on Friday’s Days episode, she sank further into insanity and seemed to genuinely believe she was Paulina Price (Jackée Harry).

Lani was tied up and still a little groggy from being sedated, but she snapped that Whitley wasn’t her mother and called her crazy.

Whitley kept trying to get Abe to back her up, but he couldn’t make sense of anything due to his amnesia and sedation.

Lani eventually pointed out that she had an ankle monitor on, so it was just a matter of time until she was found.

Whitley decided to get rid of Lani on Friday’s DOOL show, so she sedated her again and somehow dumped her body down by the docks.

Later, Whitley told Abe that she wasn’t ready to give him up yet and reiterated that she just couldn’t do it.

At the Salem PD on Friday’s Days episode, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) was there with Jada when Sam Gerard from the United States Marshals Office showed up.

Sam demanded his prisoner since Lani was supposed to be back by lights out last night.

Rafe admitted he didn’t know where Lani was, so Sam fumed and threatened to arrest Rafe over his deception. Jada was in on it, so Sam hinted that she could go down, too.

However, Sam was mostly focused on getting Lani back and prepared to have her declared a fugitive.

Jada stopped Sam and urged him to hear her out, so she made a passionate speech about what a good person and upstanding citizen Lani was.

Rafe agreed that Lani would never do anything to jeopardize her release date since she had a family to go home to.

Sam reluctantly agreed to hold off on Lani’s fugitive status and made a call to track Lani’s ankle monitor.

Once Sam got a location, he went down to the docks with Jada and Rafe. That’s where they were all stunned to see Lani’s lifeless body near Abe’s memorial shrine.

In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, Kayla talked about Whitley’s strange decision to resign abruptly when she’d been such a beloved employee all these years.

Whitley didn’t seem to have a better offer lined up, so Kayla and Marlena were baffled.

Kayla mentioned that there were signs that Whitley might’ve been obsessed with Abe, so Marlena suddenly remembered Whitley was once her patient.

The reason Marlena was a little forgetful about that was because it happened in 2021 – back when she was possessed.

Marlena hated to think of what horrible advice she must’ve given Whitley, who never got real help after her husband passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Whitley had purchased a space heater that malfunctioned, so that led to the demise of her husband and their three cats.

According to Whitley’s file, her biggest regret was not getting a chance to say goodbye.

Marlena wasn’t sure if Whitley would take her call on Friday’s Days episode, but she decided to reach out to her anyway.

At Paulina’s apartment, Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) checked on her and found out Lani was now missing on top of everything else.

When Kate insisted the cops would find Lani, Paulina was surprised by her optimism since they hadn’t found Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier).

Kate admitted that was because she hid Philip, who was receiving treatment at a private mental health facility in Europe.

Paulina reeled over the story of Philip faking his own demise to frame Brady Black (Eric Martsolf).

Kate’s story made Paulina realize that Abe’s story was similar – that there was evidence without a body to confirm anything. It gave Paulina some hope that maybe Abe was alive after all.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say some shockers are still to come in Abe’s storyline, so stay tuned.
