Is Elizabeth Leaving General Hospital?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest some major plot twists on the horizon in the land of Port Charles. Elizabeth Webber has been a staple character on the show since 1997 and has a ton of history on the show. The role has primarily been played by actress Rebecca Herbst over the years, who is a fan favorite. With that being said, could Elizabeth leave the little town shortly?

General Hospital Spoilers – Elizabeth Webber’s History With Port Charles

Elizabeth entered GH storylines just over 26 years ago. She was the granddaughter of Audrey Hardy (Rachel Ames) and came to stay with her grandparents.

During her younger years, she was a bit of a troubled and rebellious teen, while her sister Sarah Webber (Jennifer Sky) was far more grounded and down to earth.

It’s very unlikely that Herbst or Elizabeth Webber are leaving Port Charles anytime soon. As the head nurse of General Hospital, Ms. Webber has become a fixture in the little town and on the show.

Still, daytime dramas have a way of catching fans off guard now and again with stunning deaths and “accidents”, so one never can tell.

Eventually, Liz evolved into a heroine, mainly thanks to her love story with Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) as well as her romance with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

Still, over the years, she’s been a part of many interesting storylines, including one where the character was sexually assaulted, helping her husband Lucky deal with his drug addiction, her parents brainwashing her to forget (accidentally) killing Reiko Finn (Mele Ihara), and many others.

GH Spoilers – Fans Were Outraged When She *Almost* Left In 2011

In early January 2011, ABC announced that they had fired Rebecca Herbst from GH, and her exit was imminent.

Still, fans can be a strong force to be reckoned with, and protests from viewers had the network backtracking on its decision about a month later.

While actress Martha Madison (Days Belle Brady) stepped into the role temporarily that year, Herbst retained and returned to the set later that year.
